Internet safety for kids should be a very big concern for parents everywhere. There are so many kids getting online these days for a number of reasons. They do not understand how dangerous the internet can be for them. It is every parents responsibility to know what the dangers are. It is also our responsibility to know what our kids are doing online. This article will give you some tips on internet safety for kids.


One: When your kids get online you need to know what they are doing. What websites are they getting on? Are they using IM or chat rooms? Do they use social sites to talk to other people their age? These are all questions that you need answers to plus many more.

Two: This is one of the most important things that you can do to help you insure internet safety for kids. You need to educate yourself on the online predators that are after kids. Know where they contact your kids. Find out how they get your kids to trust them. Most important of all you need to find out how to spot them and stop them before they place your child in danger.

Three: Use parental control software that will let you keep an eye on what your kids are doing. It will also allow you to block certain types of sites such as some chat rooms, social sites and adult sites that you do not want them on. These are just a few of the things that you can do with this software without invading their privacy.

Four: By placing the computer in an area of your home that you can keep an eye on what your children are doing you will be helping them to stay safe. Place the computer in your living room or kitchen. This way you can keep an eye on them without invading their privacy.

Five: Talk to your kids about the dangers of the internet. Let them know about online predators and what they can do to protect themselves. Do not lecture them because when you do they will not listen to you. By talking to them and answering any questions that they have you will have a much better chance of your kids hearing and learning what you are saying to them.

These are just a few of the important things that you want to do to help insure internet safety for kids. There are so many other things that you need to find out about. The most important things that you can do are to know what your kids are doing, talk to them about online predators and educate yourself to help protect them. We as parents have a major responsibility to our kids to insure that they are safe no matter what they are doing.
